Chanel in 1983 was considered a "near-dead brand" at the time since the death of designer Coco Chanel a decade prior. Bringing Karl Lagerfeld  into the company as its creative director was the most inspired decision  leading to the huge success by revamping its ready-to-wear fashion line.
